After a long day of trains, planes & automobiles I finally arrive in the mountainous area of Jiuzhaigou

In these two portfolio albums I’ve dug out and edited some existing photographs from Jiuzhaigou, a beautiful nature reserve in Ngawa Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, China, that have not featured on the site before.

First thing to note about these following photos of this national park in China is that in August of 2017 the area was struck by a 7.0-magnitude earthquake and a lot of the parks famous sights were damaged as well around 25 people were killed. I took these photos on my visit to China in 2014 and feel even more privileged to be able to visit the park before all of this happened. I have also read that since the park reopened in March 2018 vistors have been capped to 2000 per day (originally the park saw 40,000 vistors a day!) and you are limited to a tour guide (when I was there it was free to walk and hike the parks by yourself).

With all that in mind,  you can appreciate the rarity of these photos, along with myself, even more now of this wonderful magical place! 🙂
