The Zytturm tower dates back to 1535and is one of nine towers that are part of the town fortifications of Lucerne. Two giants carry the face of its time-honored clock on its facade

Information plaque on the watch towers you can visit along the old town walls - I managed to visit two of them, each one has a lot of steep steps making them very tiring to go up!

Enjoying the view from the banks of the Ruess river that runs through Lucerne, the gothic spires of the Hofkirche St. Leodegar can be seen in the distance
Switzerland makes some of the best watches in the World, if not the best, this middle one I spotted in a heavy guarded watch shop was 22500 CHF which is about £18,200!
The gothic spires of the Hofkirche St. Leodegar Catholic church and the curved building on the banks of the Reuss river is the Pavillon am Nationalquai, a open stage for all types of concerts and outdoor shows
The Lucerne Culture and Congress Centre is a popular spot for locals to hang out, built between 1995-2000 and cleverly designed by the architect Jean Nouvel
The Steamboat Stadt Luzern is the flagship of the Lake Lucerne Navigation Company fleet, this iconic paddle steamer was built in 1928 and hosted Queen Elizabeth II in May 1980 among its numerous illustrious guests
This impressive structure outside the entrance to Lucerne's main railway station is the 'Torbogen Luzern' and is all that is left from the original railway station built in 1856!
Inside the current Lucerne main railway station, which opened in 1991 exactly 20 years after its predecessor was destroyed by a fire

Photos from my 11 day trip to Switzerland in the Autumn of 2021.

Day three and I travel to the Swiss central city of Lucerne (or Luzern) where I admire the handy work of the 14th century Chapel Bridge, explore the old town and walk the old fortifications, this is my third visit to the city and it still has it’s charms! – enjoy the photos! 🙂
